Service Description

This month trombonist Amaranth Cole, First Sergeant of the National Guard band, joins us to discuss opportunities. Amaranth Cole (they/them) is a trombonist with over 20 years of experience performing in everything from orchestras to a Chicago cover band. They joined the Vermont Army National Guard 40th Army band as a trombone player in 2003 and transferred to the Massachusetts Army National Guard 215th Army Band in 2010, where they are currently the First Sergeant. They received their Bachelor of Arts in German and Bachelor of Music in Trombone Performance from the University of Vermont in 2006, studying with Peter Bouchard and C. Robert Wigness, and their Master of Music in Trombone Performance from The Boston Conservatory in 2010, studying with John Faieta. When they’re not picking up trombone gigs in around New England, Amaranth can be found taking classes at Holyoke Community College working toward a computer engineering degree, doing CrossFit, taking circus classes, and spending time with their partner El and two cats, Louis and Ella.
